Pay close attention to Lucas Song. The young fashion designer from Chong Qing, China is creating buzz with his silhouetted women's wear that uniquely complements the female form.
A graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY in the picturesque Hudson Valley between New York City and Albany, Song initially wanted to pursue art, but ultimately studied fashion "by accident," developing an interest in design born of artistic expression.
"I first came to appreciate Yves Saint Laurent and his Le Smoking line because of how it drew attention to the uniqueness of the female form... the silhouette of a woman," Song recalls. "My designs place a similar emphasis on form." Song says he is influenced art and architecture as well and that too is brought into his designs.
He collaborated briefly with fellow Marist alum, Chloe Li and won high praise at Fashion week a few years ago, but had now established his solo wear under the Lucas Song brand. "My Lucas Song designs are sexy and classy to bring out beauty and personality," he says.
His sleek, silhouetted style is fully incorporated into his upcoming SS18 line which he expects to present to New York buyers soon.
Again, it can't be said strongly enough: Pay close attention to Lucas Song.
